Get Inspired: Latest Knitted Gifts

Made for friend. I have a knitter crush on Smariek's Asherton Reversible Scarf. It was a pleasure to make and knit up fairly quickly, as far as scarves go. I love the geometric look and the contrast between knit, purl, and seed stitch. The pattern was very easy to follow - I highly recommend it.

Made for boyfriend. Bruce Weinstein is author of the (much needed) book Knits Men Want and his blog by the same title. This reversible cable scarf came out wonderfully. The cables are subtle but class with the multi wool yarn. This wasn't the fastest knit, but the product is definitely worth it.

Made for sister. Lesley Stanfield has published many collections of knitting patterns including 150 Knitted Trims75 Birds, Butterflies & Little Beasts to Knit and Crochet, and 100 Flowers to Knit & Crochet, among others. This is her rose pattern, worked in a long strand and then sewn into shape. I made the rose into a pin for Katie since she likes accessories. The pattern was quick and easy, perfectly suitable for using up some acrylic yarn (yay!). The hardest part was placing the pin so that the flower didn't sag. I ended up placing it higher up on the back of the flower.

Made for Mom. Thank you, Kathleen Taylor for the lovely snowflake pattern. I made the hat a little shorter than the pattern asked because of experiences of hats being too long or stick up at the top. I also added some ribbing at the bottom for some "grip."
